Occupational Health & Safety Advisor

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting for an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to support our FM Business in Scotland and Northern England. This role will be based in Scotland.
Making Possible
• Develop a close working relationship with the FM teams, client, supply chain and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication between all parties on Health & Safety (H & S) matters
• Supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of the H & S management system in line with the contractual requirements and ISO 45001
• Liaise with external bodies where required on H & S matters
• Willing and able to assist on H,S & Wellbeing strategies and champion a positive organisational cultural approach to world class H &S performance
• To support the communication and understanding of all H & S policies, procedures and initiatives throughout the FM Business
• To ensure that H & S performance is monitored and measured in line with the Company’s requirements, including trend analysis
• To promote the company vision and values in all dealings with employees, client, supply chain and other external contacts
• Carry out high quality inspections and audits that go beyond just addressing compliance and, in addition, identify both barriers and opportunities for improved operational performance
• Monitor close-out of H&S inspections and audits within prescribed timescales
• To assist in incident investigations, ensuring that all investigations are robust with all findings clearly evidenced by the data and supporting meaningful remedial actions
• Attend and contribute to collaborative meetings, forums and workshops
•Develop and deliver H&S training and briefings
Your team
Reporting directly to the Principal Occupational Health and Safety Advisor, the position sits within the Delivery Assurance health and safety team.

What do you bring to the role?
Qualifications:
• A degree is preferable but not essential.
• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
• Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards it
• Lead auditor
• Recognised incident investigation training
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint plus other digital technologies
Skills and requirements:
• Previous experience working as a H&S Adviser within a FM Business
• You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a positive outlook
• Ability to work independently to support and provide assurance across the FM portfolio.
• Exemplary written reporting skills
• Time management and organisation skills to a high level
• Ability to present to large and small groups including delivery of formal training courses
• You will be able to research subjects and report on your findings
• Ability to travel throughout Northern England and Scotland, with possible overnight stays
• Clean UK driving licence
