BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Social Sustainability Bid Writer to join our team. The role involves a mixture of working from our offices, from home and on occasion from project sites. Hybrid flexible working arrangements are encouraged and actively supported.

As a key member of the Social Sustainability (SoSu) Centre of Expertise (CoE) team, you will support the development, delivery and coordination of the SoSu Work Winning service offering across BAM UK and Ireland. Reporting to the Social Sustainability Work Winning Manager, you will support tender submissions and create compelling communications materials to promote BAM's Social Sustainability agenda.

Your work will involve coordinating work winning activities including producing responses to tenders, developing high-quality bid content, case studies and a wide range of communications materials. You will support the Social Sustainability team to deliver excellent work winning outcomes.

This role requires someone who genuinely cares about social sustainability - your personal alignment to these values will be essential to making the most of this opportunity and becoming a credible internal champion for the SoSu agenda.

Making Possible

Work Winning & Bid Production

  • Provide day-to-day coordination and support to the SoSu Work Winning service across BAM Construction, Infrastructure and Ireland segments
  • Prepare and coordinate bid responses - researching requirements, writing content, editing and formatting consistent with brand guidelines
  • Conduct research and analysis of local community needs, priorities and opportunities
  • Coordinate responses to pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and framework applications
  • Support post-tender interviews, presentations and relevant meetings
  • Maintain and develop bid libraries, ensuring materials are up-to-date, well-organised and accessible

Communications & Content Creation

  • Develop compelling case studies and good news stories showcasing social sustainability impact
  • Create presentations, infographics and visual materials to support tender submissions
  • Develop communications materials and collateral to promote BAM's social sustainability credentials
  • Support digital content creation for LinkedIn and social channels

Stakeholder Engagement & Research

  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across business development, marketing, operations and technical teams
  • Engage with community partners and stakeholders to understand needs and inform tender offers
  • Liaise with supply chain partners, consultants and BAM Procurement teams to gather information for bids
  • Research and monitor external drivers (competitors, clients, communities, government policy) to inform work winning approaches
  • Research client policies and best practice on D&I to inform bid responses

What do you bring to the role?

Essential Requirements

  1. Writing & Bid Expertise 
  • Proven track record producing high-quality, tailored bid content
  • Strong writing, editing, and proof reading skills
  • Ability to review and refine content for clarity, consistency, and brand alignment
  • Experience translating complex information into clear, compelling responses

2. Deadline Management

  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple bid deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent organisation and time management under pressure
  • Ability to exercise judgement on prioritisation when competing demands arise

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strong relationship-building skills across all levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs), regional teams, and senior stakeholders
  • Comfort working remotely and building relationships without face-to-face contact

4. Technical Proficiency

  • MS Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Design tools (Canva, InDesign) or ability to work with creative teams
  • Document/knowledge management systems (SharePoint)
