Stakeholder Manager
Building a sustainable tomorrow
At BAM, we are looking for a Stakeholder Manager to join our Scotland team, based in either Aberdeenshire or Inverness.
Your work will support our projects to deliver excellent stakeholder management and community relations in line with our BAM policies, processes and strategies. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, guide and support colleagues and projects, and ensure we are positively delivering for clients and communities.
Your Team
- The role will involve a mixture of working from our office, from home and on project site. Please note that you will be required to be on site at least 2 days a week. Hybrid flexible working arrangements are encouraged and actively supported.
Making Possible
- Explain relevant social value, planning, and environmental legislation and its impact on stakeholder management.
- Demonstrate how stakeholder management supports wider sustainability and business objectives.
- Maintain expert knowledge of project programmes, construction methodologies, contractual requirements, and stakeholder obligations.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with project teams, clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and community stakeholders.
- Apply Local Needs Analysis (LNA) and TOMs frameworks to identify social value opportunities and risks.
- Support the development and communication of stakeholder management and social sustainability requirements within contracts and procurement processes.
- Develop and deliver stakeholder management strategies, plans, and documentation in line with BAM policies and project objectives.
- Conduct research and engagement activities to inform stakeholder strategies and improve project outcomes.
- Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, and cross-functional teams to deliver consistent stakeholder communication.
- Drive compliance, continuous improvement, and best practice by applying policies, sharing lessons learned, and implementing innovations.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate organisational, stakeholder, community, and supply chain risks through proactive action and escalation.
- Lead the development and maintenance of stakeholder management tools, engagement plans, surveys, complaints processes, and reporting systems.
- Engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, build strategic partnerships, and manage sensitive relationships to support project success.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver community engagement activities while strengthening relationships with community groups and partners.
- Support socially responsible procurement by managing stakeholder requirements and addressing social, economic, and environmental supply chain risks.
- Contribute to work-winning activities by producing case studies, Local Needs Analyses, tender responses, presentations, and stakeholder-focused bid content.
- Champion diversity and inclusion, challenge non-inclusive behaviours, and lead engagement with underrepresented groups.
- Research, apply, and share emerging industry knowledge, insights, and best practice to improve stakeholder management performance.
- Collect, analyse, and report stakeholder and social sustainability data to measure impact, track performance, and identify improvements.
- Promote service excellence by using evidence-based decision-making, role-modelling best practice, and driving positive outcomes for stakeholders and communities.
What do you bring to the role?
- Experienced and effective line manager, as line management may be required
- A strategic thinker with competencies and experience in independently driving performance and change
- A self-starter with a high degree of energy, self-motivation and drive
- High level of experience in stakeholder management/community engagement and managing maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of stakeholder management principles, tools and processes, and performance measurement and reporting
- Ideally a degree level qualification or equivalent
- An understanding of Diversity and Inclusion related to stakeholder management and social value
- Experience of writing tender responses and supporting tender submissions
- Excellent organisational / time management skills
- Enthusiasm and ability to inspire, influence and engage a broad cross section of stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and to be able to deal with conflict
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate BAM Values: sustainable, inclusive, reliable, ownership, collaborative
- Be highly competent in MS Suite – especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- A willingness to travel regularly throughout the region, and UK&I as required, and ideally a full UK driving licence
