BAM UK & Ireland are seeking a  to join our Risk and Control Specialist to join our Finance team from any UK office.  

The UK&I Risk & Control Lead plays a pivotal role in strengthening BAM’s ability to execute strategy reliably in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment. This role moves the UK&I risk function to a strategic, insight‑driven and performance‑enabling capability aligned with Group strategy and is part of the Finance Leadership Team for the UK&I Division.

Making Possible

Strategic Risk & Control Leadership
•    Shape and steer the UK&I risk agenda in line with Group Risk & Control strategy, ensuring the division contributes to and benefits from groupwide standards and innovations.
•    Translate strategic risk requirements into actionable roadmaps for the UK&I division that enhance project delivery, commercial outcomes and operational predictability.
•    Influence divisional leadership thinking by providing timely, data driven insights on emerging enterprise risks, scenario implications and performance critical exposures.
Finance Leadership Team
•    An integral member of the UK&I Finance Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction and a member of the Group wide Finance leadership team. 
•    Therefore, has the ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the UK&I Finance function and make a real difference to our people within the finance function.
Team Management
•    Lead, develop and support a high-performing team, providing clear direction, mentoring, coaching and continuous feedback to enable strong delivery. Foster an environment that is reliable, inclusive and collaborative, empowering individuals to take ownership and contribute to building a sustainable tomorrow.
Manage the BAM Enterprise Risk Management Framework
•    Support the continuous enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
•    Partner with divisional and senior leadership to identify, assess and prioritise strategic, operational, financial and compliance enterprise risks, providing clear insights and decision support to enable value creation and resilience.
•    Evaluation of residual risk appetite as defined and agreed by the Executive Committee and UK&I divisional management.
Deployment of the BAM Control Framework
•    Lead, in conjunction with the Head of Operational Assurance the UK&I implementation of the BAM Control Framework, ensuring timely deployment, embedding and measurable adoption across the division.
•    Ensure the framework is understood as a performance enabler - reducing variability, improving decision quality and strengthening strategic execution.
•    Drive maturity implementation planning, training, communication and change management in collaboration with Delivery Assurance and Group teams.
Dynamic Risk Management & Forward Looking Insight
•    Move the division toward dynamic risk management, including more frequent risk sensing, predictive analytics, leading indicators, and horizon scanning.
•    Establish feedback loops between Group strategy, divisional performance and BU operational realities to ensure risk insight is current, relevant and actionable. IND1

Your team


This position will be located at one of our main UK offices. Travel to BAM’s offices and sites is required at least 3 days per week.

Qualifications & Experience 

•    Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Finance, Business, Risk, or related).
•    5+ years in enterprise risk management, internal control, assurance or strategy execution—preferably in complex or project‑driven environments.
•    Experience driving cross‑functional transformation or implementing frameworks at scale.
•    Comfortable with data, analytics and digital tools; experience applying insights to shape decisions.
•    Strong communicator with credibility at senior leadership level.
