BAM UK & Ireland division is seeking a PR & Media Relations Manager to help bring to life BAM’s vision for the future of construction on a 9-12 month FTC basis. Our communications team’s vision is to win the hearts and minds of our people and stakeholders by engaging them in our purpose and progress – demonstrating how across the UK & Ireland we are supporting BAM’s aims and ambition.
Communications within the BAM UK & Ireland division is a strategic function which drives awareness, understanding and engagement across our diverse audiences. We use insight, knowledge and analysis of our market and our customers to engage them with our work and our products and services in the most impactful and effective way. We lead the development of our brand and use our expertise to tell inspiring stories to enhance our reputation, build relationships, engage our staff and demonstrate our impact.
Making Possible
The successful candidate will understand the strategic importance of external communications in helping BAM reach its key stakeholders and customers. We need a self-starting energetic communicator, with a hunger to get under the skin of our business to find the stories which are begging to be told.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a PR & Media Relations Manager to drive BAM’s PR & Media agenda, helping to elevate our profile and share the stories that matter most. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, and the successful candidate will be a proactive, energetic communicator with a hunger to understand our business and uncover the stories that will inspire audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Media & Press Office
• Respond promptly to media enquiries, gathering information from stakeholders and securing approvals for accurate responses.
• Work with our PR agencies in the UK & Ireland to uncover and create opportunities.
• Participate in an out-of-hours media rota when required.
Spokespeople & BAM Profiling
• Identify media opportunities - comment, opinion, feature, and speaking engagements for key spokespeople.
• Elevate the BAM brand through targeted media engagement, promoting our key messages across trade, regional and nation media.
Reputation & Issues Management
• Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends.
• Support crisis communications and issues management plans when needed.
• Prepare leaders and spokespeople for media interviews and public appearances.
Content & Messaging
• Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, statements, and Q&As.
• Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all external communications.
• Collaborate with the wider communications team to align narratives and announcements.
Project & Regional Communications
• Work with regional teams to identify and elevate project stories.
• Source media opportunities from project reports, site visits, and interviews.
Reporting & Administration
• Support the production of the monthly media report.
• Assist with onboarding suppliers and managing invoices as required.
About You
• Proven experience in PR and media management, ideally in a corporate or construction environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories.
• Strong media relationships and a keen understanding of what makes news.
• Proactive, self-starting, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Comfortable with occasional out-of-hours media enquiries.

Role Specific Knowledge And Experience
• Degree or professional qualification in journalism or communications or similar levels of equivalent experience
• Experience of working in a communications role within a large and complex organisation, transforming technical information into engaging communications.
