The Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture has a successful history of delivering critical infrastructure projects for the UK on time and to budget together in a joint venture partnership. The JV is now delivering the track infrastructure across the entire HS2 route and require a Railhead & Track Construction Agent to support the project.
The Railhead & Track Construction Agent will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of railhead infrastructure and track construction works across the designated section of Lot 3. The role will manage the planning, coordination and execution of railhead construction, trackform installation, S&C works, logistics interfaces and associated civil engineering activities required to support the HS2 Track Systems programme.
The Agent will lead construction teams and subcontractors, manage key interfaces with civil works and railway systems contractors, and ensure the works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and in compliance with HS2 requirements. The role will support the project from early construction planning through to testing, commissioning and handover.

- This position requires full-time availability at the JV offices in Birmingham and along the track
Making Possible
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of railhead construction and track systems works from mobilisation through to completion.
- Supervise construction activities including railhead infrastructure, slab track, ballastless track systems, S&C installations and associated civil works.
- Coordinate construction resources, subcontractors, plant and materials to achieve programme objectives.
- Monitor progress and implement recovery actions where required.
- Support the development and maintenance of detailed construction programmes.
- Plan construction sequences, access requirements and logistics strategies.
- Identify programme risks and opportunities and implement mitigation measures.
- Coordinate interfaces between railhead development, logistics operations, track construction and adjacent civil works.
- Liaise with HS2, suppliers, designers, utilities providers and other railway systems contractors.
- Participate in design reviews and constructability workshops.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers delivering railhead and track construction works.
- Coordinate material deliveries including rail, slab track components, S&C units and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure construction logistics are aligned with planned installation activities.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
- Ensure compliance with HS2 standards, CDM Regulations and project procedures.
- Lead inspections, audits, briefings and safety reviews.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications.
- Support inspection and testing activities.
- Coordinate completion documentation, as-built records and handover requirements.
- Support testing and commissioning activities for track systems.
What do you bring to the role?
Key skills and experience
- Experience in the construction of railheads, construction compounds, logistics hubs or railway access facilities.
- Experience in track construction, including slab track, conventional track, S&C installation or track renewals.
- Proven experience delivering major rail infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Experience managing construction works and multidisciplinary subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, programme management and site delivery.
- Experience managing complex interfaces across large infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of railway construction methodologies and safety requirements.
- Demonstrated application of commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Experience working in a cost-conscious environment.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains.
Desirable skills
- Understanding of High Speed rail technical standards and Works Information requirements.
- Experience working on HS2, Network Rail or other major rail infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of rail logistics, possession planning and access arrangements.
- Familiarity with digital construction management tools and BIM.
- Experience supporting testing and commissioning of railway systems.
