The Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture has a successful history of delivering critical infrastructure for the UK on time and to budget together in joint venture partnership. They first worked together in 2010 as BFK, delivering three Crossrail contracts, including the longest stretch of tunnelling works between Royal Oak and Farringdon and Farringdon Station, the first central station to be completed on the Elizabeth Line. The team is also delivering the Silvertown Tunnel project together in East London and has been delivering excellence at each stage of HS2, such as Fusion JV for the Enabling Works packages, EKFB for the central Main Works Contract and now delivering the track infrastructure across the entire HS2 route. 
 
BAM UK & Ireland’s Infrastructure segment urgently require a Finance Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase which will run concurrently with the completion of main works contracts, which are now at their peak. The team operate under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure, designed to manage interfaces and resolve any program conflicts. 

Your team

  • The role will be based either to work out of our Euston Office in London or Snow Hill office in Birmingham.

Making Possible

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day financial management information of the business 
  • Prepare monthly, the financial status of the business to provide the JV Board and JV Partners with the required information to make business decisions 
  • ERP system compliance of all data therein with respect to Financial Regulations and then to external parties such as HMRC for VAT & CIS. 
  • Full Balance Sheet review (monthly) along with key control account reconciliations 
  • IFRS 15 management 
  • IFRS 16 management, reporting and forecasting 
  • Cash management – Forecasting & decision making 
  • Engage with HS2 as a key contact to secure income to the JV through the AfP process. 
  • Internal and External Audit management 
  • Seek and implement efficiencies where possible – systems and processes for continual business improvement and raise where opportunities exist. This also moves / links into the business improvement side of the business 
  • Develop team members and provide continuous support for all individuals associated with Finance, and drive the Finance Business Partnering element of the project 
  • Delivery non-financial performance information to management. Such aspects may include sustainability and social value.  
  • Deputize for the Finance Director and represent finance in forums that require Finance decision making on behalf of the JV
  • Supporting the wider BAM UK&I Finance team with ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required

What do you bring to the role?

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
  • Management skills – oversee the full finance function / department 
  • Business Partnering - Competent in providing financial insight and support to Commercial and Operations
  • Analytical IT skills – data analysis 
  • Prior ERP system usage 
  • Organisational skills – ability to deal with high volumes & timetables 
  • Proficient UK GAAP Accountancy knowledge
