Health & Safety Advisor

KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall.  We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor.

 

Due to the site being a high Security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made – BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.

Your mission

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Supporting the Managers of H&S in the promotion and use of H&S policies and procedures in conjunction with KBJV Policies and Procedures. 

  • Assist the Manager of H&S to lead the development and implementation of Project H&S objectives, campaigns, and initiatives.

  • When required, produce monthly and yearly H&S performance statistics and reports. 

  • Produce and publish H&S documentation to a high standard. 

  • Work closely with the operational teams in carrying out their roles and H&S responsibilities. 

  • Assist the operational teams in developing Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW). 

  • Support the operational teams in developing and reviewing of SSoW, permits and plans associated with the timely delivery of works. 

  • Conduct regular and robust health and safety Inspections & Audits as prescribed by the Inspection monitoring targets

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported in a timely manner, and are also effectively investigated, and actions are delivered and closed as per timescales prescribed. 

  • Assist Management teams in the development of health and safety related documents. 

  • Advise and assist in the identification of health and safety training requirements. 

  • Undertake and plan ‘Random’ D&A Testing in accordance with KBJV process, support the project team in conducting ‘For Cause’ D&A testing. 

  • Where required support the induction, training and briefing of project staff.

Who are we looking for?

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (preferably Construction) or equivalent.
  • Membership of relevant professional institution (e.g., Tech IOSH or above).

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in construction and heavy civil environment (CDM Designers) 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 Standards.
  • Accident/Investigation Qualification (e.g., Kelvin TOPSET, ROSPA or NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation)
