We are looking for an experienced and motivated Planning Engineer to join our dynamic planning team, working out of our Leeds office, covering projects throughout Yorkshire. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven professional to play a pivotal role in the success and delivery of various projects across the region. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and analytical skills. The role may suit an experienced engineer/sub-agent looking for a change.

Your mission

As a Planning Engineer, you will report to the Planning Manager and be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6 and MSP from first principles including resource and cost loading.

  • Integration and management of sub-contractor and supplier programmes with our own.

  • Assimilate and interpret information from tender and project documentation.

  • Understand civil construction techniques and developing them into a working programme.

  • Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams on all programme aspects.

  • Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects.

  • Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery.

  • Utilise a number of planning techniques and tools to communicate the programme effectively.

  • Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats.

  • Support collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors (depending on Project requirements).

  • Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements.

  • Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.

  • Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes.

  • Comply with business processes and systems.

  • Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience of delivering programme under the NEC form of contract is preferable.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Civil Engineering contracting and will require the ability to communicate and manage own workload with the support of Senior Planning Engineers and Planning Managers in the Region.

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction to HND level or equivalent is preferred but not essential

  • Competent in the use of various planning software is preferable

  • A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with all parties.

  • Comfortable in presenting and client facing situations.

  • Can demonstrate experience of working closely with site construction teams and understanding of each "customer's" programme requirements.

  • A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.

  • The ability to work to often challenging timescales.

  • Tender experience would be an advantage
