Project Commercial Director

BAM Infrastructure have an exciting opportunity for a Project Commercial Director with commercial accountability for the newly formed Rail Regional Frameworks business, reporting to the Commercial Director for the Rail Networks business. The role involves the commercial management and delivery of Network Rail Frameworks in three key areas; Southeast, Western & Wales and Eastern which run through until the end of Network Rail Control Period 7 (i.e. Mar-2029). The Regional Framework business has an annual turnover of £100m. The Framework call-off contracts in Eastern and Western & Wales are predominantly NEC4 Options A, C & E with the call-off contract conditions in the Southeast being NEC3 Options A, C & E.
Your work environment

There will be an expectation for the candidate to visit our project team offices in London, Sevenoaks, Bristol and Cardiff across a minimum of 3 days per week however, this will vary depending on workload & other changing requirements across the frameworks

Your mission
As a Project Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the following:
- Commercially responsible for the recently awarded Cardiff Central Enhancements Project in our Western & Wales region, a £70m design and construct contract for Transport for Wales.
- Work closely with the Operations Director for the Regional Frameworks business to implement and deliver the BAM Strategy utilising the BAM Baseline and the Primary Processes to ensure a robust risk profile, healthy profit margins and cash positions are achieved.
- Manage and develop of a team of 40 commercial staff, ranging from Project Commercial
- Managers to Apprentice QS
- Maintaining high personal safety, environmental and social sustainability, and quality standards in accordance with BAM policy. Promoting and supporting the programme safety vision.
- Maintaining effective communications with the Rail Sector and Project Directors, Sector Commercial Manager, project management and other associated disciplines and enhance the profile of the BAM UK and Ireland Commercial enabling service.
- Providing commercial leadership input into building stronger relationships with client, stakeholder, partner and supply chain partner organisations.
- Providing input into preconstruction activities as per the governance framework of BAM and our key client.
- Attending and providing input to project start-up and close-out meetings. Attending industry, BAM and partner commercial and leadership meetings/forums as required.
- Establishing and growing a commercial team structure and balance that delivers the agreed project budgets and outcomes.
- Be responsible for commercial team people matters which may include talent and role succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude and behavioural issues, competency and retainment issues, colleague work allocation.
- Ensure audits, Business and Commercial Assurance reviews are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
- Adopting and promoting BAM values and behaviours.
Who are we looking for?
- Successful experience as a Project Commercial lead working with multiple projects
- Joint Venture or Alliance working experience.
- Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar
- Open collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you.
- Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential)
