Project Controls Engineer

We are now seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to join the HS2 Track Infrastructure Project during its initial design phase. This phase will run alongside the completion of main works contracts, which are currently at their peak. The FBRS team will mobilise as soon as civil works are complete and will operate under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure, designed to manage interfaces and resolve programme conflicts.

  • Candidates will be based in our London office, located near Euston Station.
  • We recognise the importance of flexibility and will consider flexible working arrangements following an initial team integration period on an individual basis, reviewing requests in line with project needs and BAM's Flexible Working Policy.

Making Possible

As a Project Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Support the preparation and review of Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC), and other project forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of weekly and monthly project performance reports to suit both internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Support for undertaking Earned Value Analysis and reporting.
  • Support the measurement and reporting of physical progress against planned quantities and project milestones.
  • Support in monitoring Key Performance Indicators with the Contractor.
  • Help maintain project documentation including change logs, risk registers, and cost reports.
  • Support the development of requirements, maintenance and analysis of specific resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project information.
  • Ensure project data is accurately recorded in project management systems.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to the project controls team.
  • Support the development and maintenance of project dashboards and data visualisations using Power BI or similar tools.

What do you bring to the role?

Required Qualifications

  • Experience as a Project Controls Assistant/Engineer on medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of project management principles (EVM, project planning or risk management concepts).
  • Experience in working on NEC 3 or 4 projects.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
  • Ability to perform assignments independently with supervision and guidance as required.
  • Ability to deliver timely high-quality reports.
  • Good level of proactivity and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and liaise with a number of different stakeholders.

 

The following are desirable requirements: 

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification or NVQ equivalent level.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar software.
