Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Scotland. You will work with the team and lead on ensuring the Quality standards and specifications required are produced, implemented throughout construction and assured for handover; achieving best in class at all times.  Weekly and monthly inspections shall be required on site around Inverness-shire and Argyll as well as attending meetings in Kilsyth on a monthly basis.

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Accountable for the quality arrangement and assisting in preparation of the Project Execution Plan and other documentation for the project, to ensure the Contract, Design & Specification requirements are met.
  • Collaborating with various disciplines throughout works preparation/planning to ensure Quality requirements are considered.
  • Liaise with suppliers, sub-contractors, client and other Stakeholders, for their input towards the ITP and project documentation deliverables.
  • Working with Section Leads and the delivery teams to ensure Inspection and Test Plans & Checklists are prepared to support the construction activities and programme.
  • Develop and determine all standards to perform inspection and tests on all procedures and oversee all testing methods.
  • Perform inspection and audits to review the quality of materials when delivered or produced on site (Construction) at the site and ensure compliance.
  • Supervise the effective implementation of all test and inspection schedules and ensure adherence to all project procedures.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the QA/QC documents of the complete project including interpreting test reports for compliance.
  • Assist with employees to ensure knowledge of all quality standards and ensure compliance to all quality contract, design and specifications requirements.
  • Support quality audits as per the required schedule as auditees, or part of the Audit team, including supplier audits and third party audit preparation.
  • Analyse all products and non-conformance processes, determine corrective actions with the site team, root cause analysis investigation and evaluate all documents to ensure the maintenance of optimal quality and prepare monthly reports to evaluate performance.
  • Assist the project team with tracking and effective closure of non-conformances or defects
  • Support project digitalisation processes and innovations. 
  • Ensure compliance of HSQE processes on the project for a right first-time delivery with zero incidents.
  • Perform surveillance visit of all work methods and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards.
  • Coordination between supplier, sub-contractors and client to identify potential issues and find opportunities to resolve.
  • Support the handover process.
  • Identify and contribute towards the continuous improvement of the business management system and projects by identifying opportunities for improvement and managing  change effectively.
  • Report to the Regional Quality Manager to control, and monitor all activities related to Quality.

What do you bring to the role?

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience supporting the planning, implementing, monitoring and improvement of quality management systems in relation to site activities.
  • Internal Auditor qualified.
  • Commitment to maintaining Continuous Professional Development membership within Chartered Quality Institute
  • Ability to communicate effectively and raises awareness to potential issues.
  • Proficient in the application and use of information technology, with awareness of digital construction applications, platforms and practices.
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience of working in construction project delivery.
  • Substation, earthworks and material testing experience would be advantageous.
