Quality Manager
Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join our ASTI team based in Inverness-shire, Scotland. You will work with the team and lead on ensuring the Quality standards and specifications required are produced, implemented throughout construction and assured for handover; achieving best in class at all times. Monthly inspections shall be required on multiple sites as well as meetings in Kilsyth.
Making Impossible
As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
- Monitor the preparation and operation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) in line with the context of the project and governance of client specification and design.
- Support and advise the Agent and Quality Engineer on the effectiveness of the project quality system and implementation of the PEP.
- Assist project staff in preparing procedures required by the project and the PEP.
- Advise and report on suitability of subcontractor and supplier quality systems.
- Liaise with Document Controller / Information Manager to ensure the correct naming convention (metadata) is used for issuing project quality information
- Ensure quality management system documents including site procedures, inspection and test plans, checklists, registers of NCR's, corrective actions and root cause analysis, quality inspections and audits are developed, maintained and effectively communicated.
- Monitor the implementation of the quality assurance system by the site team, subcontractors, suppliers and client.
- Support with the preparation of site procedures, activity plans and assurance records to ensure that staff have comprehensive and complete records for work carried out.
- Maintain the programme of project audits, including subcontractors, suppliers, client, third party and support the close out of corrective actions.
- Co-operate and liaise with staff and client representatives to ensure that problems of quality are solved promptly and efficiently.
- Support and influence Quality Engineer, Agent and supply chain to early identify potential issues and opportunities for solutions.
- Report monthly on the current status of the project systems: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, non-conformances and lessons learned and to the Regional Quality Manager
- Drive the planning and execution of a successful handover file which includes the progressive assurance documentation during construction.
- Liaise with our Joint Venture partner and Stakeholder for mitigating risks, achieving long term goals and improving operational excellence.
- Lead by example, driving performance and continuous improvement.
- Contribute towards successful delivery of Operational Plan and shaping future strategy.
- Cross-department collaborative discussions to improve efficiencies.
- Carry out other relevant duties from time to time.

What do you bring to the role?
The following are required:
- Lead Auditor qualified.
- Chartered Member of Chartered Quality Institute.
- Experience supporting the planning, implementing, monitoring and improvement of quality management systems in relation to site activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and raises awareness to potential issues.
- Proficient in the application and use of information technology.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and manages change effectively.
The following are desirable requirements:
- Knowledge of Lean construction practices and techniques.
- Working knowledge of digital construction applications, platforms and practices is preferred.
- Degree level qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience of working in construction project delivery.
- Substation, earthworks and material testing experience would be advantageous.
