Rail Systems Integration Engineer

Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture has a strong track record of delivering major UK infrastructure projects on time and within budget. Since first partnering in 2010 on Crossrail as BFK, they have successfully delivered key projects including Farringdon Station, the Silvertown Tunnel, and multiple HS2 contracts through Fusion JV and EKFB.

 

We are now recruiting a Rail Systems Integration Engineer to join the HS2 Track Infrastructure project during its initial design phase. Working within a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance, the role will focus on managing interfaces, resolving programme conflicts, and coordinating design, access, resources, and logistics to achieve shared cost and schedule objectives.

Making Possible

As Rail Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Support management of design interfaces across Rail Systems, Civils, Stations, and HS2 stakeholders.
  • Ensure technical consistency, contractual compliance, and integrated assurance.
  • Implement and maintain relevant elements of the Interface Management Plan.
  • Support railway systems design integration processes.
  • Deliver RAM, System Safety, Interoperability, Security, and related management processes.
  • Manage systems integration activities from design through construction.
  • Maintain system-level Functional and Architecture Specifications.
  • Manage and update Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Promote consistency across subsystem deliverables.
  • Support standardisation of subsystem specifications.
  • Coordinate interface resolution with contractors, designers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate supply chain activities to deliver compliant and efficient designs.
  • Support progressive technical assurance through design, construction, and handover.
  • Ensure delivery of interface-related disciplines within programme and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with interface, assurance, design, construction, and logistics teams.
  • Attend and contribute to stakeholder meetings in Birmingham and London as required.
  • Chair rail systems and civils integration meetings.
  • Support management of risks, opportunities, changes, and technical/commercial issues (e.g., SNCs, NCRs, CEs, departures).

What do you bring to the role?

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Chartered IMechE, PWA Institute, INCOSE, CEng ICE or similar is desirable.
  • Experience in major multi-disciplinary rail projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on design integration and interface coordination.
  • Proficient in design coordination, design interface management and assurance documentation in railway projects.
  • Knowledge of railway systems, operating requirements, available equipment.
  • Knowledge of system safety, interoperability and RAM disciplines, processes and legal frameworks and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR).
  • Positive and collaborative approach.
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • People management skills desireable but not required
