BAM UK&I are recruiting a UK & I Data Director to join our Finance team from any UK office on a hybrid basis. 

The UK&I Data Director for BAM UK & Ireland is a senior role, responsible for the division’s data strategy, governance, management and utilisation, focusing on turning data into a valuable company asset. 

The UK&I Data Director will have the authority to recommend changes to divisional processes and, where appropriate, technology to achieve the above role objectives subject to BAM governance procedures.   

Making Possible

Senior executive leading enterprise data strategy, governance, and analytics for a major infrastructure contractor. Ensures data supports project delivery, financial performance, and regulatory compliance. Integrates project, cost, safety, people and environmental data to drive performance insight 

Degree in Data Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business (often MSc/MBA) with a strong academic background and continuous professional development.  

Proven leadership of successful process and data transformation projects. Experience in managing and leading data management, reporting & analytics teams. Proven success in developing enterprise-wide data and digital strategies within construction or infrastructure sectors. Demonstrated outcomes in improving project delivery, data quality, cost forecasting, and operational efficiency through data-driven decision-making.  

Deep understanding of European and UK data and construction standards — GDPR, ISO19650 (BIM), EU Taxonomy, CSRD, and national infrastructure digital frameworks. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and financial reporting requirements.  

Oversees integration of project, finance, procurement, and asset data across the enterprise. Fundamental understanding of core business processes, data and their associated technical solutions. Establishes data standards for cost control, planning, and performance reporting. Embeds automation and analytics in project controls and asset lifecycle management.  

Skills 

Works closely with project managers, finance leads, engineers, and IT to align data priorities with delivery and financial objectives. Works effectively as part of an executive team and is flexible to step in and assist whenever and wherever required.  

Champions digital transformation, automation, and process improvement across all project and corporate data workflows.  

Awareness of BIM, data governance, IoT data integration, cloud analytics, and AI applications in construction (e.g. predictive maintenance, safety analytics).  

Leads cultural change towards data-driven project management and decision-making. 

Supports upskilling in digital tools and data literacy. 

Working closely with the executive leadership especially the UK&I Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director of Finance and the IT Director on data driven insights and strategic recommendations in a constructive, empowering and collaborative manner, examples may include data strategy, ROI of digital initiatives, and evidence-based performance management.  

Influences client and partner data collaboration standards. 

Creates clarity through dashboards, storytelling, and visual analytics; communicates data strategy across a dispersed and multidisciplinary workforce. 

Works effectively across all levels of the organisation to achieve shared goals and builds partnerships with technology vendors, joint venture partners, and clients to ensure interoperability and shared data value across the construction ecosystem.

This role can be based from any UK&I office, with a hybrid working pattern of three days per week in the office.
