About the role

The Structures Agent/Project Manager is responsible for the safe, commercial, technical, and operational delivery of structures works on a major motorway project in Ireland. Reporting directly to the Contract Manager or Senior Project Manager and based full-time on site, the role will lead the delivery of bridge structures, retaining walls, precast concrete elements, culverts, reinforced concrete structures, earthworks interfaces and associated highway infrastructure.

The Structures Agent/Project Manager will provide leadership to engineering, supervisory and subcontractor teams, ensuring that all works are delivered safely, in compliance with TII specification requirements, project specifications, contract obligations, programme requirements, and quality standards. The role carries significant responsibility for commercial performance, construction delivery, stakeholder management and the successful execution of complex structural works from commencement through to handover.

Making Possible

• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company procedures, client standards, and project-specific requirements.
• Lead site safety inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Ensure suitable risk assessments, method statements, permits, and safe systems of work are implemented and monitored.
• Provide technical leadership for all structural, civil engineering, and construction activities.
• Review and manage construction methodologies (RAMS), temporary works, engineering solutions, and design interfaces.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, resolving engineering challenges promptly and effectively.
• Hold overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, implementation, inspection, and safe removal of temporary works.
• Ensure compliance with company temporary works procedures and approved designs.
• Maintain and review the Temporary Works Register and permit systems.
• Ensure all temporary works are adequately designed, checked, constructed, inspected, and authorised before use.
• Manage temporary works associated with falsework, formwork, propping etc. 
• Ensure temporary works risks are identified, controlled, and integrated into project planning, safety, quality, and programme requirements.
• Implement and maintain project quality management systems.
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and client requirements.
• Identify variations, compensation events, contractual change, and risk mitigation measures.
• Develop and manage construction programmes and delivery strategies.
• Coordinate resources, logistics, subcontractors, and interfaces to achieve programme objectives.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, quality, and health and safety requirements.
• Other duties as required.

What do you bring to the role?

Essential

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
• Extensive experience managing structures and civil engineering elements.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts (desirable), commercial management, and project controls.
• Proven leadership experience managing construction teams.
• Experience in reinforced concrete, steel structures, temporary works, and major infrastructure projects.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Experience delivering major infrastructure, transportation, marine, energy, or heavy civil engineering projects.
