Planning Manager - Programme Risk and Forensic

We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager (Programme Risk and Forensic) for UK&I to work as part of our central Shared Services team located in any of our regional offices.
Reporting to the Head of Planning UK&I, you will be working with the shared services team and the planning community as the lead manager for Robust Programme Checks, QSRA Assessment, Forensic Analysis on Programme Delays, and Assurance Guidance / Training. Required to prepare detailed reports and expert evidence for disputes, claims, and adjudications, while also advising organisations on programme risk, mitigation strategies, and improvements to project planning, control systems, governance, and records. You will also provide structured documentation based on shared best practice and company requirements, and support project compliance across the UK & Ireland.

- BAM operates a flexible working policy. You will need to live within commuting distance of your base office but a hybrid working model is available.
Making Possible
- Maintain effective communications with all disciplines within the BAM business and our clients.
- Work with the planning, commercial and quality departments, ensuring a programme of assurance audits is being managed within the planning function together with appropriate support where non-compliance or opportunities for improvement have been identified.
- Show a willingness to learn, adapt and develop in the role and promote the approach within the planning community.
- Support, develop and manage relevant planning procedures, standards and guidance that are required to have value to the planning community and the wider business. Promote their understanding and use within the business together with context of how they align with other Company Procedures.
- Support and promote the planning function as a professional service, provided to support company activity and assured outcomes.
- Working with the Head of Planning for UK&I and the segments, establish and support within the planning function a structured and balanced framework of process, standards and guidance that provide consistent approach to planning assurance that meets the needs within the UK&I business segments, and project delivery with BAM’s clients.
- Support the planning function in its role to provide data, information, reports, advice and collective decision making.
What do you bring to the role?
Necessary:
- Organised, self-motivated, able to work alone and as part of a team to lead the planning.
- Working with BAM’s Health & Safety, support strategy, primary processes and guidance that promote and manage a culture of Health & Safety in planning and programming.
- Wide construction technical knowledge and project delivery experience with good communication skills, with a collaborative attitude.
- Successful experience in project delivery, team management and individual development, visionary and pragmatic thinking, opportunity embracing, and strategic in role delivery
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of planning best practice, planning software, systems and platforms.
- Demonstrable knowledge of project delivery programme risk management strategy, approach, methods, and evaluation.
- Experience with data harvesting and information extraction based on accurate records
- Knowledge of the various forms of contract used by the construction industry and their relevance to planning professional services provided to the company.
- Degree or equivalent education with willingness to be a member of an appropriate professional body.
Advantageous:
- Have experience and ability of analytical thinking, evaluation of what is needed, collating best practice, authoring documentation, gaining acceptance from a wide community of interested parties.
- Experience of forensic planning and a detective instinct.
- Experience of Programme Risk Analysis
- Previous experience working in a construction, civils or engineering business
